Chaotic Scenes Unfold as Democratic Protester Removed During Trump’s Congressional Address

President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated address to a joint session of Congress quickly descended into disorder as tensions erupted between Republicans and Democrats. The speech, meant to highlight Trump’s achievements, was repeatedly disrupted by Democratic lawmakers, culminating in the dramatic removal of Rep. Al Green (D-TX) from the chamber.

Boos and Chants Clash in a Divided Chamber

The disruption began almost immediately after Trump took the podium, as Democrats openly voiced their disapproval. Boos and jeers rang through the chamber, breaking with traditional congressional decorum. In response, Republicans countered with loud chants of “USA”, setting the stage for a combustible and deeply polarized atmosphere.

House Speaker Mike Johnson was forced to step in multiple times to restore order, warning members that their behavior was breaching congressional rules.

“Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further interruptions,” Johnson stated sternly as tensions mounted.

Al Green’s Defiant Stand Ends in Forcible Removal

As Trump outlined what he described as a significant rise in small business optimism, Democratic opposition grew louder. Among them, Rep. Al Green emerged as the most vocal, standing up in defiance while others in his party remained seated in protest.

Speaker Johnson repeatedly urged Green to take his seat, but the Texas lawmaker continued his vocal objections. Eventually, Johnson ordered the sergeant at arms to remove him from the chamber.

As Republican lawmakers erupted in cheers, many began chanting “Hey hey hey, goodbye” as Green was escorted out.

Green Defends His Actions: “I’ll Accept the Punishment”

Speaking to reporters immediately after his removal, Green stood by his actions, explaining that his protest was against what he perceived as Trump’s attempts to cut Medicaid.

“The president said he had a mandate, and I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid,” Green declared.

He emphasized his dedication to his constituents, particularly the most vulnerable communities.

“I have people who are very fearful, these are poor people, and they have only Medicaid in their lives when it comes to healthcare.”

Green remained unapologetic, vowing to continue his opposition.

“I’m willing to suffer whatever punishment is available to me. I didn’t say to anyone don’t punish me. I’ve said I’ll accept the punishment. But it’s worth it to let people know that there’s some of us who are going to stand up against this president’s desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.”

Trump Presses On, Declares Historic Success

Despite the disruptions, Trump remained undeterred, continuing his address with his signature confidence. He touted what he described as historic achievements in his administration’s early days.

“I have signed nearly 100 executive orders and taken more than 400 executive actions to restore common sense, safety, optimism, and wealth all across our wonderful land,” Trump stated.

The president also made a bold assertion regarding his administration’s success:

“In fact, it has been stated by many, that the first month of our presidency, it’s our presidency, is the most successful in the history of our nation.”

Boycotts and Deep Divisions

The divide in Congress wasn’t just inside the chamber—several prominent Democrats chose to boycott the event entirely. Among those absent were Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gerry Connolly, Kweisi Mfume, and Don Beyer, according to The Hill.

As the night unfolded, Trump’s congressional address became a clear reflection of the deep partisan rift defining American politics. The fallout from the night’s chaos is likely to continue, with both parties standing firm in their positions.
