Breaking: X Suffers Massive Cyberattack, Musk Blames Coordinated Effort

Social media giant X was hit by a major cyberattack, with Elon Musk confirming the incident as a highly coordinated assault on the platform.

“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” Musk revealed in a post on Monday, as reported by Fox News.

Musk, who currently serves as the head of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), suggested that the attack was particularly well-funded and highly organized.

“We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” he explained. “Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing …”

Users Worldwide Experience Disruptions

The attack disrupted access for thousands of users, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. Reports indicate that the first outage occurred at approximately 10 a.m. EST on Monday, according to Tech Radar.

While the platform managed to restore service quickly, users were hit by another wave of disruptions shortly after. In total, X endured at least three outages throughout the day.

By 2 p.m. EST, the platform had mostly recovered, though some technical issues persisted for certain features.

X’s Evolution Under Musk

Since Musk’s acquisition of X in 2022, the platform has undergone significant transformation, becoming a leading space for free speech advocacy, particularly among conservatives. By mid-2023, Musk had completed X’s rebranding, shifting the platform’s focus toward uncensored discourse.

Political Tensions Surrounding the Attack

The cyberattack coincides with increasing backlash against Musk from liberal groups protesting his aggressive government spending cuts under DOGE. While the perpetrators remain unknown, Musk’s suggestion of state-level involvement has fueled speculation about possible foreign interference.

Investigations are currently underway to identify the source of the attack, as X engineers work to stabilize the platform.
