Delta Air Lines has addressed misinformation circulating online regarding the crew members of Flight 4819, which crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport earlier this week.
The airline clarified that the captain was originally hired in October 2007 by Mesaba Airlines, which later merged into Endeavor Air in 2012. He has served as an active-duty captain and has also worked in pilot training and safety. Delta refuted claims that the captain had failed training events or had been denied a pilot position at Delta due to training failures.

Regarding the first officer, Delta stated that she has been employed with Endeavor Air since January 2024, completed her training in April, and has logged flight hours that exceed federal requirements. The airline also dismissed claims that she had failed any training events. Both pilots have been confirmed as fully qualified and FAA-certified for their roles.
Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, overturned and caught fire upon landing, resulting in 21 injuries among the 80 passengers and crew on board. All injured passengers have since been released from the hospital.

As part of its response, Delta is offering $30,000 to each individual aboard the flight, with no conditions attached, ensuring that recipients retain the right to pursue legal action if they choose.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed appreciation for the care provided to the injured passengers and addressed concerns about aviation safety. He reassured the public that recent budget cuts did not affect critical safety functions within the FAA.
