EU Diplomat Cautions Against Russian Intentions Amid U.S.-Ukraine Peace Efforts

European Union’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has expressed concerns regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s commitment to peace as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares for discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Kallas emphasized that Putin “doesn’t really want peace,” urging the U.S. to remain vigilant against potential Russian strategies aimed at dividing Western alliances.

This caution comes as Trump and Zelenskyy are set to negotiate a potential resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. While Trump has noted “very good talks” with Russia, European officials stress the importance of a unified approach to deter further Russian aggression and ensure a sustainable peace in the region. The EU continues to advocate for a solution that upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning against concessions that could embolden Russian expansionist ambitions.
