Trump Establishes Task Force to Combat Anti-Christian Bias

In a significant move aimed at addressing concerns about religious discrimination, President Donald Trump announced the formation of a new task force dedicated to protecting Christianity. This initiative, outlined in an executive order titled “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias,” was revealed during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.

Task Force Leadership and Goals

Attorney General Pam Bondi will lead this task force, which has been established with the objective of halting all forms of targeting and discrimination against Christians within federal agencies. This includes departments such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“While I’m in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, military, government, workplaces, hospitals, and public squares,” Trump stated. He emphasized the need to unify the nation “under God” while ensuring liberty and justice for all citizens.

The president highlighted the alarming trend of anti-Christian sentiment in recent years, stating that the rights of peaceful Christians have been undermined under previous administrations. “We’ve seen this sacred liberty threatened like never before in American history,” he asserted.

Reinstating the Faith Office

In addition to the task force, Trump announced the revival of the White House Faith Office, which had previously been operational during his first term. This office aims to further protect religious liberties, a priority that Republican leaders claim has deteriorated under President Biden’s administration.

Rep. Brian Babin from Texas expressed gratitude for Trump’s commitment to safeguarding religious freedom, particularly through the appointment of Bondi to lead the new task force. He tweeted, “Under Biden, religious freedom was under attack—but not on President Trump’s watch.”

Critique of the Biden Administration

The executive order outlines several grievances against the Biden administration, suggesting that it engaged in systematic discrimination against Christians. It accuses the former administration of ignoring violent acts against Christian organizations, while prosecuting peaceful pro-life advocates for demonstrating outside abortion clinics. According to the order, nearly two dozen pro-life Christians faced severe legal consequences, including multi-year prison sentences.

Furthermore, it criticizes the Biden Department of Health and Human Services for allegedly attempting to exclude Christians who oppose certain beliefs about sexual orientation and gender identity from participating in the foster care system. The order also points out that March 31, 2024—Easter Sunday—was designated by the Biden administration as “Transgender Day of Visibility.”

“We will not tolerate anti-Christian weaponization of government or unlawful conduct targeting Christians,” Trump declared in the order. He assured that any improper practices against Christians would be identified and rectified swiftly.

Task Force Report Timeline

The newly formed task force is mandated to compile a report detailing its findings within 120 days. Additionally, it has a two-year timeframe to implement its initiatives aimed at countering anti-Christian discrimination across federal institutions.

This announcement comes at a time when discussions surrounding religious freedom and Christian rights are increasingly prominent in the political arena. Critics argue that the focus on anti-Christian bias could exacerbate divisions within society, particularly among those who identify as liberal Christians and may find themselves at odds with the rhetoric employed by Trump and other conservative figures.

As debates continue over the role of religion in government policy, the establishment of this task force signals a renewed commitment from the Trump administration to advocate for the rights of Christian Americans at every level of governance.

By taking decisive action, Trump aims to reassure supporters that his administration prioritizes religious liberty, positioning him as a defender of faith in a polarized political climate.
